Who are we?

Fostering connections since 2013

Welcome to Rancho Ventura, a family-owned horse farm founded in 2013 by Chrissy and Roberto. With a lifetime of horse experience, Roberto, an attorney with a cowboy spirit, and Chrissy, a renowned horse trainer and equestrian instructor, envisioned a unique equestrian school. Chrissy's passion drove her to create a safe haven where people could appreciate horses and nature while learning to respect and connect with these majestic animals in diverse ways.
At Rancho Ventura, our commitment extends beyond our farm gates. We take joy in giving back to the community, sharing the wealth of experiences we've cultivated over the years. Starting as an equestrian riding school, we've evolved and expanded with various projects, always seeking new ways to enrich the lives of those around us.
Additionally, we provide a dedicated space for teenagers to thrive. Our ranch offers a secure environment where everyone can build meaningful connections and foster respect. Through our holistic teaching approach, we ensure comprehensive learning experiences for every individual. Join us at Rancho Ventura as we empower people to explore, grow, and succeed in a supportive and enriching environment.

What we do

What to Expect as a Volunteer

Horse Care

Assist with feeding, grooming, and general care of the horses. This includes ensuring they have ample fresh and clean water, cleaning their stables or grazing areas, and providing them with attention and affection.

Facility Maintenance

Help with maintenance tasks such as repairing fences, painting stables, or cleaning and tidying up common areas. Keeping the facilities in good condition ensures a safe and comfortable environment for the horses and visitors.

Hiking and Exploration

Explore the natural trails around the farm can be an exciting experience. Help maintain the trails, identify local flora and fauna, and enjoy the natural beauty surrounding the farm.

Education and Awareness

Participate in educational activities such as workshops on horse care, talks on nature conservation, or awareness programs about the importance of preserving the environment. This helps promote greater understanding and appreciation for nature and animals among visitors and the local community.

Veterinary and Farriery Skills

Volunteers have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from our specialized veterinarian in areas such as dentistry, horse reproduction, injury management, preventive medicine, and healthcare. Additionally, there are opportunities to gain insights from our experienced farrier, enhancing both personal and professional growth in equine care.

Composting and Gardening

Volunteers can engage in our new vermicomposting project, utilizing worms to transform organic waste into nutrient-rich fertilizer, enhancing our soil quality. Additionally, volunteers can assist in our gardening efforts, helping to cultivate crops that support the ranch's self-sufficiency and environmental sustainability.

Horsemanship and Training

Volunteers can participate in the training of young horses at Rancho Ventura, helping to nurture their development and hone their skills from an early age. This hands-on experience is vital for the well-being and education of our foals, ensuring they grow into well-adjusted, skilled horses.

Relaxation and Leisure

Volunteers can unwind in various serene settings at the ranch, from lounging by the pool to engaging in birdwatching. Our BBQ areas and hammocks provide perfect spots for relaxation, allowing everyone to enjoy the peaceful ranch atmosphere while reconnecting with nature.
